Guns

Its been kind of strange back in my section of the store all month. We are selling mostly handguns and we have the cases stuffed and stacked with them right now. All of a sudden used guns are showing up in groups. I got in three 10/22’s, two Browning BLR’s in 308, two Browning BL22’s, two Ruger P91’s, two Glock 37’s, and two Ruger p95’s. All of them used and in good shape. The new stuff is coming in from the show orders too finally. I got my Glocks, some of the Springfield 1911’s, the Taurus 1911’s and the compact 24/7’s are here. Go check out our website www.orchardshardware.com for the weekly update. Im going to be better about blogging too, I promise :)

Well… somebody got really busy (or at least is going to use that as an excuse) and didn’t get the guns page updated for a couple weeks. That somebody would be me. Sorry for the delay everyone but we are all up-to-date now and will keep it that way every Tuesday. My bad the past few… but check out the stock now by clicking here.

Even with the rising prices of ammo, reloading componants, gas…etc people are getting the itch for Spring to finally come and start shooting. We have been selling the Remington 700 SPS Varmints really well and reports back are they shoot. I havent had one but the 17 Fireball is interesting and Im sure I will have to have one eventually. One of the guys just got one of Remingtons 799’s in 222. He hasnt shot it yet because bases were a pain to find and even Remington couldnt figure out what works for it. But after lots of searching, just so everyone knows, we think Weaver bases 71A and 23 are suppose to work. I’ll let you know if they do and how it shoots. We have got a few discontinued Ruger #1b’s in. 22-250, 220 Swift, 300 Weatherby, and 338 Win. We have done well with them and we have them priced at $699.99, about $100 off any of the cataloged guns. The 17 HMR’s are still going strong. We got in some interesting used guns this week. A 2003 Shot Show Special Remington 700 in 7mm Mag. Its stainless with a dark walnut stock. A really nice looking gun. I also got in a Remington 700 VLS Thumbhole stock in 22-250. Both the Remingtons are in perfect shape. Check out our website www.orchardshardware.com for all the new and used updates. I got out about 3 weeks ago and actually shot, something I dont do near enough. It felt good and Im ready, or close to ready, for the praire dogs. I think Im even going to have my old Marlin 322 restocked this year to furthur inspire me to go shooting. I still need to talk Jr into taking a day off and go with me though. I’ll have to work on him a little :)

I wrote last week about doing my 2007 order with Benelli and today some of them (ALOT of them according to Chuck..haha) showed up. One of the advantages do doing the order so early is getting the new guns first. Well, today we got in the new 20 gauge Codobas and 20 gauge Super Sports, they are impressive. Both models have the Comfort Tech Stock, Crio treated barrels, extended choke tubes, and are ported so they should not have much recoil at all. We also got in a huge shipment of Super Black Eagle II’s, M2’s, and Novas. The other part of doing the Benelli deal is Franchi, Stoeger, and Uberti. We got some of the Franchi Raptors in 20 gauge today along with several I 12’s. Both have been very popular. From Stoeger, several 2000’s, Condors, and Coach Guns arrived. For the cowboy action shooters I got in a couple 1873’s Short Rifles in 357 Mag and 45 Colt. The shooters I have talked to say the 73’s are the most popular at the events. We also got in several of the Milleniums in 357 and 45 Colt for those looking for less expensive six shooters. Used guns this week have been crazy. I havent been able to keep up with all the stuff going in and out of here. I traded for an early #1 Ruger in 243, a Weatherby Accumark in 30-378, a couple of S&W 686’s, a TC Encore in 7-08 with a thumbhole camo stock, and a pre safety Marlin in 444 Marlin. The other new guns we got in are a Ruger Red Label, english stocked 20 gauge with really nice wood, a S&W 620 in 357, and a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in 280. This time of year we get new guns everyday so if you can stop by or check our website www.orchardshardware.com and see whats new. You will also find links to all the manufacturers websites so you can check out their new stuff and maybe getting your Christmas started :)

We got in a few nice trades this week and I did my Benelli order for 2007 and heard about a couple of new guns they are going to be doing next year. First the used guns. In rifles we got a Browning BAR in 7mm with the BOSS on it. A Remington 700 ADL in 25-06, a Marling 30-30, and a Savage m12 in 204 Ruger with the Acutrigger. In handguns a Glock 36, Taurus 44, and a S&W model 629 Classic with the Power Port came in. We also finally got in some new Springfield GI 45’s in. They have been hard to get all year. The new Benellis I saw were inpressive. They are going to do the Ultralight ina 26 inch barrels. If you havent seen or handled one of these they are cool and weigh only 6 pounds. Chuck has one and loves it. He killed a couple of Turkeys with it this Spring and just got back from North Dakota on a Pheasant hunt, but i havent heard any stories yet. Maybe I can get him to write a blog about it later. Benelli is also going to build the Cordoba and Super Sport in 20 gauge. When I was at the Shot Show in Feb the Benelli reps were taking all kinds of heat about there being a lack of 20 gauges in their line. I guess they listened. October was a really busy month back here int he gun section and Im sure November will be the same so check out our website and look for the new stuff  www.orchardshardware.com

Its been another busy week in the gun section, hunting season has arrived. I think I set up and boresighted more scopes this year then normal so maybe thats a good sign more people are getting out there and chasing the game around. I picked up some cool new guns this week, one of which I havent seen for a couple years. Browning had discontinued the 3 1/2 inch Citori I believe 5 years ago but Grice Wholesale had some made up so I bought 4 of them. They have 28 inch barrels, blue finish, and an oil finish on the stock. There isnt a Citori in Brownings catalog that list under $1600 but Ive got them on the shelf right now for $1399.99. But if you print this Blogpon and bring it in I’ll sell you one for $1299.99. How can you go wrong with that deal? We also got in some Franchi 720’s in the youth model finally. They are 20 gauge 24 inch and make great guns for ladies and kids. One of my distributors had some Remington 700 LVSF’s in 221 Fireball on sale so I got one of those. I bought one about 2 years ago and it is one of my favorite guns and calibers for Prairie Dogs. I also got in a Hi Point carbine in the camo finish in 9mm. These are always popular and never last long. Used guns this week have been good too. A Browning Gold Fusion came in on trade along with a Remington 700 stainless 7mm Ultra Mag. We still sell the Ultras really well and the 7mm is the flattest shooting of them all. I even had a couple of Winchesters walk in the door. One Model 70 Classic left hand in 30-06 and a pre-safety 16 inch Model 94 in 30-30. Both of them are in great shape. Its amazing how many guns have been coming for sale this week. Today alone I bought or traded for 7 handguns, 2 shotguns and 1 rifle so if you get a chance stop by. If you cant make it go to www.orchardshardware.com and check out the updates. Jr updates it Monday nights when I remember to attach it to my emails to him…sorry jr. :)

We got in some nice guns this week on trade. If your into shooting Prairie Dogs we got in two great Remingtons. One is a XR-100 in 204 Ruger and the other a VSSF in 223. I love Remingtons and if I had unlimited funds, well, you wouldnt be reading about these two :) My most accurate gun ever was a Remington VS in 223 so this one is tempting. I of course stupidly sold that gun off a few years ago and have regreted it ever since. I wish I could explain why I do such things, but I cant…haha If your looking for a hunting rifle, I traded for Remington CDL in 35 Whelen that is in perfect shape. On the pistol side we took in a Ruger P95, Beretta Vertec in 9mm, and a S&W Mountain Gun in 44 Mag. We got in our first Ruger Alaskan in 454 finally. An impressive gun but it would be a handful for sure. You can check out our complete list of guns at www.orchardshardware.com You can definatly tell its hunting season around here. The used rifles are thinning out quickly. I spend all Spring and Summer trading for them and then in like 2 weeks they disappear. Goose season will be then next big thing and then the shotguns will go. Im working on a great Blogpon for next week on some Browning Citori 3 1/2 inch 12 gauges so come back and check on that one. It will be worth it I promise

Well the boss is getting ready to head to North Dakota for his annual pheasant hunt, so Sunday him and I went to work the dogs out. We went over to one of Colorado Wingsport’s farms near Brighton and chased a few pheasants around. It really reminded me of how my much I like fall and, more importantly, how much I like bird shooting. There were three times when roosters got up flying against that crystal blue Colorado sky that were just fantastic.

Pretty wet this year too… there was one point when crossing the ditch I had to use the stock of my Benelli for a crutch just to stay standing up (a fantastic reason to own a camoflague Super Black Eagle Benlli by the way). Anyway… if you’re looking for an awesome afternoon of hunting without going far at all, hit up the guys at Colorado Wingsport. We have been for years and enjoy it everytime.

We got in a couple of cool limited edition guns this week. Lipseys did a run of 200 Ruger M77RSI’s in 257 Roberts. They are stainless with 18 1/2 inch barrels with sights and they come with rings. They would be a great Antelope-Deer gun and I love the stainless-walnut combo. I was able to get 2 of them so I doubt they last long. I finally got in some Springfield Black Stainless 1911’s too. Springfield has been really slow in shipping 1911’s this year for some reason. Again, the rumors are flying as to why. I have heard everything from they have government contracts to fill to Imbel not having production of the frames up to speed yet. Springfield has been pretty good about getting their XD’s out though. The 45 ACP’s have by far been the best sellers for us and everyone seems very happy with them. I took a few guns in on trade this weekend that were nice. I got a Ruger P95 9mm in great shape. An Arms Corp AK-22 in 22lr pretty much new in the box with and extra mag. A Browning Buckmark (one of my favorite guns) showed up on trade. Also an AMT AutoMag 22 Mag. I hadnt seen one of those in 5 years but in the last 4 months we have had 3 of them go through here. I also got an Olyimpic Arms AR-15 with a collapsible stock which is kind of cool. If you cant make it in go check out our website www.orchardshardware.com for our complete list of guns. Things are always changing around here and we update the list every week.
