FloodSafe Water Supply Lines
Posted by Clark under General
About four years ago I received a call from my wife. “There’s water coming from the basement ceiling! It’s running everywhere†I’m thinking, that can’t possibly happen, because there’s no plumbing right above there. So I dashed home and sure enough saw water dripping from all over the ceiling. Needless to say I was less than happy. I even said a few (dozen) bad words that I won’t type here. I found the source of the water and shut if off. I had recently installed a new bathroom vanity and faucet. In so doing I installed braided stainless steel flexible supply lines. They sealed up, worked just fine for many weeks until one decided to leak at the seam near the top. A slow, but steady leak the let water run down the floor, soak through to the ceiling below, run all over, drip all over and make one hell of a mess. Ruined the ceiling, the carpet and my day. Had to get the insurance adjuster involved, a drywall repair guy, new carpet, what a pain.
Â
All this never would have happened had I used Watts new FloodSafe faucet and water supply lines. Of course, they were not on the market at that time or I would have used them. They’re on the market now, and on our shelves. They are a truly great new product. I’ve seen them demonstrated right next to conventional supply lines. These new FloodSafe supply lines were cut in half with full water pressure. The water only ran for a second until the control device shut off the flow. Only a drop of water hit the floor from a supply line cut in half! Way cool!
Â
So now that we have them in stock, you can bet that I will be replacing every one in my house. They’re available for faucets, toilets, dishwashers and washing machines. The supply lines are all maid of braided stainless steel, and have a simple control device at one end that does not allow unwanted flow of water. They’re simple to install and available in a variety of lengths.

These are honestly great new items, and just the type of new technology that is really worthwhile. I know I will have much better peace of mind whenever I’m away from my home. Now let’s get the insurance companies to give a discount for having these installed!
